How we met...
We met at work.
The proposal...
Dean proposed to me on a 6am run over the bridge near our home in Thrapston. It was such a lovely surprise!
Why we chose Dodmoor House for our special day...
We fell in love with the rustic barn vibe and the fact that we could truly make the day our own. The venue is so flexible, which made it perfect for us!
Our vision and theme for the day...
We wanted a relaxed and chilled atmosphere with a simple black and white theme.
The outfits!
I wore an ivory fishtail dress, while Dean looked dapper in a three-piece tuxedo. He changed into a more laid-back look in the evening, with an undone bow tie and braces. We both also had custom-made Converse for later in the day!
Food...
We kept it casual with a BBQ during the day and pizza in the evening. We also treated our guests to doughnuts, brownies, and cookies.
Our favourite parts of the day...
Definitely getting married—the ceremony was the most special part for us.
How Dodmoor House as a venue stood out to us...
The rustic charm and beautiful surroundings of Dodmoor really drew us in. It’s wonderfully peaceful, with no busy roads nearby, which added to the relaxed vibe we were after.
One plan or idea that really worked...
We opted not to have a sit-down meal and weren’t sure how it would go, but it turned out brilliantly—especially with the amazing weather we had!
The entertainment...
We had a band playing throughout the day and evening, which kept everyone entertained.
Where we felt our budget was well spent...
The venue was fantastic value for money, and the food and drink really stretched far, too!
Personal touches that reflected us as a couple...
Our custom Converse, the signage, and the laid-back, fun atmosphere we created really made the day feel like ‘us’.

We’d highly recommend our band, Happy Hour—they were amazing and added extra touches, like taking photos in the evening, which we loved!
Our tip to other couples:
Enjoy every moment! Let your hair down and soak it all in, as the day flies by. And definitely book a little trip for a few days after to help combat the post-wedding blues!
