How we met...
We met while working at the same restaurant at Center Parcs. We became friends first, and then we fell in love.
The proposal...
We were in Amsterdam for our anniversary, sitting on the edge of a canal, away from the busy streets, and Aaron popped the question.
Why we chose Dodmoor House for our special day...
The beautiful barns with rustic wood touches made it feel extra homely and special.
The vision and theme for the day...
No theme at all, which I know is unusual. We wanted everyone to dress how they liked and feel comfortable. The décor was filled with things we loved rather than trying to fit with a specific theme.
The outfits!
I wore a sparkly princess dress by Maggie Sottero (Aniston, if anyone’s asking), which I found at Serendipity Brides in Weedon. Aaron wore a classic black tux.
Food...
For the wedding breakfast, we had steak or halloumi sandwiches, and in the evening, we served pizza. We also had Pastel de Natas as our wedding cake, so everyone got one – or two in some cases!
Our favourite parts of the day?
Spending it with my best friend and husband, Aaron. It was the most fun and enjoyable day, surrounded by our favourite people.
How Dodmoor House as a venue stood out to us...
The service we received from the Dodmoor House family was exceptional from the start. They made us feel so welcome and weren’t pushy or trying to sell the venue to us. The no corkage policy during the day and the ability to bring our own caterers made it personal and allowed us the flexibility to do something that suited us. Not many venues offer that.
One plan or idea that really worked...
We had our own glasses that were different from everyone else’s. The Dodmoor House staff were incredible and always made sure our glasses were full!
The entertainment...
We had a DJ in the evening, courtesy of Motion Entertainment. Duane, the DJ, was unbelievable and kept us partying until the very end! We also had a magic mirror from Motion Entertainment, which allowed our guests to dress up and take some funny photos as keepsakes.
Where we felt our budget was well spent...
Food. We hired the Wedding Pizza Company, who served food from their van. We didn’t have a sit-down dinner, as it felt too formal in the middle of summer. It made the day feel less stressful, and the food was incredible.
Personal touches that reflected us as a couple...
We had pictures of our cats on sticks so they could celebrate with us! They were available for everyone to use, and they were partying all night!

Our tip to other couples:
Make your day your own. Don’t feel pressured to do things just because it’s a wedding. You’re spending a lot of money, so do what makes you happy and have the best time!
