Louise and Andy's Summer Wedding

weddings

How we met and the proposal...

Louise: We met online (match.com) just over two and a half years ago. Both of us had been in bad relationships before, and we both knew very quickly that this was different and something special. We got engaged after six months; we had gone on our first big holiday to Mexico, and Andy proposed to me at the top of a sky bar.

Andy: Louise was totally shocked - she even asked if the ring was real! We moved in together two months later.

The dress...

The dress was a Maggie Sottero. I bought it from Serendipity Brides; it was the fifth dress I tried on. None of the dresses up until that point had really grabbed my attention. However, this dress felt different as soon as I picked it up. I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on. I tried on two more dresses to make sure, but none came close to it. My bridesmaids' reaction when they saw it on me as well simply confirmed it was the right one.

Our favourite part of the day...

Seeing all our friends and family in one place was amazing. There is no one part of the day I could pick out-it was all amazing.

The idea that we felt really worked on the day...

Louise: We had some Irish dancers in the evening as part of our entertainment - they went down really well. I'm Irish and wanted to bring my country’s culture to the day. They were an unexpected treat for people, a lot of whom had not seen Irish entertainment live before.

Andy: We also felt the balloons as centrepieces with the counties of Ireland on them for table names worked really well.

Where we feel our budget was well spent...

The flowers! By Julie-Anna Flowers. They were a large amount of money, but brought the whole venue to life. They were absolutely stunning. Well worth every penny of the money, and just perfect for us.

Finally, if we could give a tip to other couples...

Plan well in advance. Don’t stress about little things, and savour every moment of the day. Don’t worry about wedding blues; it is only the beginning of the next chapter and your adventure together.

Special thanks to Louise and Andy for sharing their story, and to Richard Shepard for the photos.
