How to nail a Winter Wedding at Dodmoor House

Two D Photography

Gosh, the weather has gotten chilly today! Whilst we are sipping our mugs of tea in the office this morning we got talking about Winter weddings and how much we love to run them.

There's something different about weddings at this time of year; the earlier nights means the fairy lit courtyard can be marvelled at for more of the day, wedding breakfasts with added candle light seem that touch more romantic and everyone is getting in the festive spirit and much more up for a party!

Below we've complied some of our favourites ideas for your perfect winter wedding at Dodmoor House!

Even if it's bright and sunny on your wedding day the chances are it's still going to be a bit chilly.

We love a little blanket station in wicker baskets or crates for guests to help themselves too throughout the day. We can set this up for you from the beginning of the day or in the evening (they always look amazing set up at the top of the courtyard steps).

This will help encourage guests to enjoy the courtyard still or keep them toasty when going to collect food from your food truck in the evening.

We love these blue blankets we found on Pinterest, it's a great way of adding a pop of colour to the day and will really stand out in your wedding photos!

Dress for the season! You're going to be outside for some photos so it's worth investing in a chic cover up that will add some serious wow factor to your photos. Last December we fell in love with Anna's ostrich feather wrap and David's monochrome scarf, they look effortlessly cool!

What's more Wintery than a steaming cup of hot chocolate? Our ruby and diamond drinks packages offer you the choice of hot chocolate or even better - an Irish hot chocolate! The package also comes with a "Pimp your Hot Chocolate" stand complete with cream, marshmallows and other fun toppings!

Sparkler arches are our ultimate winter fave and the best way to kick off your evening reception!

The Dodmoor Team will completely organise this and can even source the sparklers for you. It's a great way to get your evening guests involved in the festivities and we promise they will be some of your favourite photos from the day!

Whilst Summer weddings usually lend themselves to a light and floral colour palette, Winter weddings are the time to add the drama! We love coloured linen, table runners or napkins to add different textures and tones to your table settings.

Adding lots of candles on your tables will add the wow factor whilst also saving on your floral costs but if do opt for flowers we love a deep burgundy colour to add a statement or keep it crisp with and all white and green colour palette.

Foliage is always super popular with our couples and smells fantastic!

For favours and name cards, add a Winter twist such as pine cones with cards in, mini sloe gins or personalised Christmas crackers like Kristina and Nick!

What are your favourite things about Winter weddings! We'd love to see some of your photos on Facebook so mention us in your posts and we'd love to re-share with the Dodmoor community!
